Pass vs fail, at a glance
These illustrations show the checks SurePhotoID runs on every photo — head size, eye line, background color and uniformity, and sharpness. The dashed line is the eye-line guide; the shaded band is where the specification wants the eyes.
Head size within range, eyes on the required line, plain even background, sharp.
Too close to the camera — the head exceeds the size the specification allows.
Too far from the camera — the head is below the minimum size.
The eyes sit below the height the specification requires.
Shadows, gradients, or objects behind the head — the background is not uniform.
Motion blur or a smudged lens — the photo fails the sharpness check.
Exact limits differ by document — SurePhotoID applies the values from your document’s cited official government specification, so the guides you see in the camera are always the ones that apply to you. Rules the app can’t measure automatically (expression, eyewear, head coverings) are covered in the official source your template cites.
